Hardcover 1st edition - exactly as cited in the Carnegie Mellon collection Posner Library reference DG210 .A12 1852A, xii, 308 p. illus., col. plates, 21.2 x 12.7 cm. 10 fabulous hand coloured engravings plus numerous in-text woodcuts by the famed caricaturist John Leech. Nd s/b 1852, despite other works indicating an earlier date, biographies of Leech's work place this binding at ca 1851-1852. Pebbled boards, leather spine and corners, gilt rules, faded gilt lettering on spine, 4 raised bands. Some scuffing of covers, bumped corners, front exterior hinge starting. Interior clean tight and fresh with only some darkening on pages facing the coloured plates.
